Hi, I’m Ms. Hernandez, a passionate math educator dedicated to making learning engaging, relevant, and empowering for students. With experience in middle school math instruction, classroom management, and real-world financial literacy, I help students build confidence in problem-solving and critical thinking. I love integrating technology and differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
Currently, I’m a substitute teacher, holding a Foundational Math Credential, and preparing for the CSET 3 to earn my Full Math Credential. My goal is to inspire students to see the value of math in their everyday lives and future success.
I believe that great teaching goes beyond math concepts—it’s about empowering students with essential 21st-century skills: communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. My approach is student-centered, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where every learner feels valued and motivated to succeed.
I emphasize differentiated instruction, leveraging technology, real-world applications, and problem-solving to make learning meaningful. Encouraging a growth mindset is at the core of my philosophy—I want students to embrace challenges, learn from mistakes, and build confidence in their abilities.
I incorporate elements of progressive, constructivist, behaviorist, and humanistic education to create a well-rounded learning experience. Through hands-on activities, structured guidance, and positive reinforcement, I help students take ownership of their learning while ensuring a strong foundation in mathematical concepts. Above all, I strive to inspire a lifelong love for learning, preparing students for success in and beyond the classroom.
My goal is to create a positive, structured, and student-centered learning environment where all students feel safe, supported, and empowered to succeed. I recognize that no single approach fits every classroom or student, so I employ a flexible, adaptive management style that balances structure with relationship-building.
I establish clear expectations and consistent consequences to promote responsibility and respect. At the same time, I prioritize strong relationships with students and parents, fostering a classroom culture of trust, collaboration, and mutual understanding.
My approach integrates:
🌟 Structure & High Expectations – Setting clear, firm, and fair guidelines to create a productive learning environment.
🌟 Relationship-Driven Management – Building strong connections with students and families to encourage engagement and trust.
🌟 Student Autonomy & Accountability – Encouraging students to take ownership of their learning and behavior.
🌟 Adaptability & Responsiveness – Adjusting strategies to meet the diverse needs of students based on their backgrounds, learning styles, and emotional well-being.
By combining these elements, I strive to cultivate a classroom that is both disciplined and nurturing, where students feel encouraged to take risks, learn from challenges, and develop the skills they need for lifelong success.
In this class,
no matter how we feel,
we get up,
dress up,
show up,
and never give up.
